The Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music provides music tuition at various locations throughout the region. We have studios operating in Singleton and Muswellbrook and also teach at 20 schools across the district. Lessons are provided across an area ranging from Murrurundi and Blandford in the north, to Nulkaba in the south and Merriwa in the west.
Founded in 1997, the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music is recognised today as a leading contributor to a thriving musical and cultural presence in the Upper Hunter region.The UHCM is a not-for-profit, community based organisation, funded partly by the NSW Department of Education. It is governed by a Committee of Managment, which meets bi-monthly, and it is a member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums.
The aims and objectives of the UHCM are:
to provide quality music and drama tuition to residents of the Upper Hunter;
to foster music as a form of social interaction, expression and creativity; and
to enhance the cultural life of the local community.
Since its inception, thousands of students of all ages have enrolled and benefited from the lessons, courses, ensembles and workshops provided by UHCM. Some students have progressed to become professional performers and teachers, and most have achieved a level of training enabling enjoyable music-making experiences.
The UHCM also caters for the youngest music lover, with specialised Early Childhood Music classes. Nurture your child’s or your own passion for music and enquire about enrolling with us today!
